Alexander Crane's Solo Show at the Munson Gallery

20 January - 7 February, 1942
The Munson Gallery, 275 Orange Street, New Haven, Connecticut

The 22 paintings shown at the Munson Gallery were all watercolors. Each was priced at $30. There was a black and white image of the painting "March Snow" on the front of the folded hand-out that accompanied the show. The house shown in "March Snow" was his home, known as Packet Mail, located at the top of the hill on Route 6A as one enters Barnstable village.

Titles of watercolor paintings, as listed in the folded hand-out that accompanied the show.

It's clear from the list of 22 paintings in this show that the years 1939 - 1941 were prolific ones for Alexander Crane. From the image of "March Snow" on front of the show's hand-out, one can make out that it is signed with the Crane monogram. It is likely that the other paintings in the show were also signed either with a conjoined AC or with the Crane monogram, or both. (The Crane monogram consists of the painted image of a crane. It was usually accompanied by the conjoined initials AC.) If anyone knows the whereabouts of any of these paintings, the editor would appreciate hearing this information.
